british constitutional monarchy. The queen reigns but doesn’t rule
History |
Monarchy is
the oldest institution of British Govt., working since Roman times. A total
of 53 Monarchs out of which 5 women ruled U.K. During 1649-1660 (11 years)
England was without monarchy.
Queen
Elizabeth-II, came to thrown on Feb. 8, 1952, at the age of 25.

The title
to the crown is derived partly from statutes and partly from common law.
Son of
monarch have precedence over daughter in succeeding to the throne. When a daughter succeeds to the throne she
becomes Queen Regnant. The constitutions doesn’t give any special powers or
privileges to her husband.

The powers of the monarch have been derived from (1) Royal
Prerogatives (2) Statutes
Royal prerogatives means the
powers which have been left with the monarch deliberately.
